it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students or as they call themselves “mathematicians,” are very motivated to learn and show perseverance and an excellent work ethic! They want to grow in their skills and abilities as mathematicians, and do so every day by working hard, communicating, and working together to solve problems! They come from a low-income disadvantaged neighborhood, but this does not stop their perseverance and work ethic. They value their time in school and the opportunities to learn and grow so that one day they will overcome and follow career paths that might involve mathematics.
My Project
My students have diverse needs which include use of sensory tools, calming down toys, flexible seating for movement or comfort levels. During the course of the day, students may feel the need to use a calming tool, or fidget/sensory tool to help them re-focus and be able to get back to their learning. Some students also benefit from having a band on their desk or flexible seating to feel comfortable and be able to move as necessary. These items can make a huge difference for a student during the course of their day, and help re-direct, re-focus, or calm down to be able to learn and engage in our math lessons.
