Keep Calm and Carry On--Wearing Our KN95!

Help me give my students KN95 masks to ensure a safe environment for everyone! With the spread of the highly infectious Omicron, we need to provide high quality, well-fitted masks for them.

My Students

I teach in a public arts high school where students attend academic classes in the morning followed by an intense conservatory program in the afternoon. A diverse group of artistically talented young people from every ward in the city, our students' commute to school might be as short as fifteen minutes or as long as two and a half hours. Buzzing with energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm, our Scholar Artists are dedicated to improving not only their skills as artists, but also as thinkers, leaders, and innovators in a wide variety of fields.

My students are singers, dancers, visual artists, creative writers, actors, and musicians, and as artists, they thrive in spaces where they can create, collaborate, perform and exhibit their work--and it is our responsibility to ensure a safe environment for them.

My Project

When our school re-opened this fall, our students' enthusiasm and joy to be back was truly something to behold. Two and a half weeks ago I attended our Dance Conservatory's first in-person performance in nearly two years--"A Chi Latte Holiday"--which was absolutely stunning.

Our school's mission is to provide a college preparatory curriculum and pre-professional arts training for artistically talented, diverse students--and for them to create, collaborate, perform and exhibit their work, they must have a safe environment.

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, individual teachers / staff members are creating projects to provide KN95 masks for our young artists. This concerted effort will strengthen our safety protocols, and hopefully we can keep school open and reduce the number of students who have to quarantine.
