Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a Title I school where a majority of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. The school consists of approximately 80% Hispanic students. My class is very energetic and is always ready to learn! They are the hardest working students who are so resilient!
My Project
In this time where physical distancing and remote education has become necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, social connection is more important than ever.
It's important to feel connected to a support group and my students know we are here for each other daily!
As you know, a strong sense of connection is necessary to create positive social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.
Yoga is a great way to counter the stresses, anxieties, and fears that come with the unknown of what tomorrow might bring. Yoga, physically, will enhance flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. These mats will be distributed to all students and we will start incorporating activities in our daily lessons. There are great videos online and on GoNoodle related to mindfulness and social-emotional well being. There are life long benefits to yoga that they will carry with them forever.
