Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a Title I school where everyone qualifies for free lunch. Our students work hard and have little time or money for extracurricular activities such as art.
My art class may be the only time our kids get to experience art, so we want to make the experience as special as we can.
We have a great program with great teachers. However, there are a few items we would like to provide that just are not in our budget.
My Project
I am requesting 96 composition books for my students so that they will have a place in which to take notes, sketch their ideas, and review their work for quizzes.
Many of my students lack basic supplies such as a composition book, and I do not want the lack of such a simple educational tool to hold them back.
A composition book is key for learning new material and being able to review it to commit to memory. It may seem like just a collection of paper to some but for my students it is the key to success.
