This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
All of my students are amazing in their own ways. A majority of my students have either cognitive or developmental disabilities. Regardless of disabilities, they are always ready to learn. My students love learning and look forward to coming to school each day whether it is virtual or in person. School being virtual has been very hard for them. Help me make a school that much better for when they are able to return.
My Project
My special education high school class would benefit from a document camera as we continue both virtual and online learning to best accommodate all of our students.
The camera will be used to help my students who are nonverbal or aren't comfortable asking for help.
The camera would be used to portray nondigital learning items so they can be seen by everyone easily.
It will benefit the students by being able to use it to portray all different types of information including those that don’t lend themselves to being easily shared such as maps and more.
Some of the great ways it will be used are for vocabulary and reading, allowing the class to read along with the teacher or play a matching game with the teacher. I will be able to show how to work math problems using math manipulatively on screen for everyone to see.
We will also be able to use it to teach vocational skills such as money, filling out job applications, and more. The document camera will help bring science and geology alive by looking at items up close, all together, and in great detail. We’ll even be able to review tests, quizzes, and worksheets together and write answers and explanations for easy viewing.
