My students need consumable math work books to use at school and home to develop basic math skills and to promote personal organization.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Boyle's classroom raised $420

My Students
Do you remember your teacher saying, "take out your math workbook and turn to page 10?" Today, students in many of my district's schools don't receive consumable workbooks because of lack of funding. Please help us purchase workbooks!
I teach students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and speech/language disorders in a K-2 Autistic Support classroom in an urban public school.
My students are eager to learn and motivated to succeed! Because it is easier for my students to comprehend more concrete information, they absolutely love math. They are progressing and ready to transition from using manipulatives to paper and pencil work! Let's help them by providing them with workbooks.
My Project
Due to a lack of resources, I currently assign math worksheets cobbled together from various books and Internet resources. They get the job done but it is difficult for my students to keep their work organized. We actively work on organization skills, but to expect students with developmental disabilities in grades K-2 to manage large amounts of paper is a bit much. I requested workbooks so students have math resources that allow them to follow a progression of skills in a book form and help keep them organized. An additional benefit to using a workbook is that is provides students the opportunity to practice listening skills, following directions, and sequencing tasks. You would be surprised to learn the prerequisite skills it takes to "open your math workbook and turn to page 10!"
These workbooks allow students to practice academic math skills and basic functional skills that can generalize to other academic areas and to every day life skills.
Our goal is to develop competent, productive little citizens who will develop into young adults equipped with the skills necessary to be active participants in their communities. Please help!
