My Students
Bananas! That's what my little people will go when they get a load of these theme boxes. My students are curious little learners and anything they can see, touch, smell, taste, and bang about to make a noise will put them into an amazing learning trance!
I teach students with autism and speech/language disorders in a newly opened K-2 Autistic Support classroom in an urban public school.
Most of my people have communication issues, but that doesn't stop them from attempting to communicate by any means possible when they see something interesting that they want! That's where I come in to shape their efforts into functional speech. It's easy when there's lots of fun things around!
My Project
These theme boxes are from a much larger set of available boxes. I've selected boxes that are most relevant to the needs of my student, such as "All About Me," "Families," and "Safety." These boxes are great because they are highly motivating, encourage interactions and speech, and provide a structure for the kids to learn social competence.
These boxes would blow my little people's minds!
