K-2 Autistic Support Classroom- Literacy and Language
My students need interesting and interactive early literacy materials, including talking boards, activity tins and puzzles, that they can learn to use independently or with a buddy.

My Students
Don't be fooled- even children with limited verbal abilities can learn to read and manipulate language to meet their own needs. Often what lies underneath is a brilliant mastermind!
I teach students with autism and speech/language disorders in a newly opened K-2 Autistic Support classroom in an urban public school.
In the few months they have been in school, my little people have made such incredible progress that they are ready to tackle the same rigorous academic tasks as their peers outside of our doors. They are eager to learn and motivated to succeed!
My Project
Little people love tactile sensations and noises. I've chosen items that get the kiddos out of their seats, put their little fingers to work, and talk back to them. They don't even realize they're learning. The Early Language Concept kit includes 3-d objects to match and categorize and the Language Acquisition Talking Boards model appropriate speech and encourages communication. I've also included a Fill-in-the-Blank Magnet Activity because it hits on comprehension- and who can resist magnets?
My little people are eager to learn!
They have the motivation. I'm here to provide the opportunity. We just need the means to succeed. Please help! I promise your donation will make a reader AND a difference!
