Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students hear about Lennie and George, but they don't know who they are just yet. We want our incoming students to be able to read John Steinbeck's classic text Of Mice and Men and to explore the complex themes within it.
Of Mice and Men is mentioned in popular culture all the time, and our students want to see what all the commotion is about!
Let's give the students the opportunity to discover these amazing characters with each other. They will read the text in school as well as at home, work with the text through argumentative writing prompts, and develop a love of reading through Steinbeck!
Let's open this world up for our students and let them imagine what justice would look like for George and Lennie today. Would Lennie's story have had a different ending? Would George's? Let's find out together!
