Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The world has changed and we need to adapt.
I am finishing my 11th year as a kindergarten teacher at my school.
I teach 20 kindergarten students in an ICT education classroom at a low-income school in New York City.
They are a great group of kids who are extremely inquisitive and want to learn more. They try hard on a daily basis and want to do well educationally, emotionally and behaviorally. They celebrate their successes and know when they need extra support to help meet their needs.
Do you remember what it was like when you were in school? Do you remember what supplies you were required to have in class? The families in my classroom struggle to purchase most of the required materials needed for success in the classroom. Now that we are back in school full time we need to make sure we have enough basic supplies to last us the year. I want to try to help out the families by providing some of the basic supplies they will need for the school year.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
