Bright colored murals, beautiful garbs, fresh fruits, and vegetables at the corner market and the smell of delicious Indian food coming from the nearby kitchen. This is the environment my students live in. Parkchester is a beautiful neighborhood that embodies the Indian culture. Unfortunately, my school is in a low-income neighborhood. Many of my students, a diverse mix of cultures too, attend a school that strives to give these eager students who are ready to learn an excellent education. Many of them are first-generation Americans and are excited to begin school!
My Project
As a teacher it is my job to make every single student who walks into my room feel safe, comfortable and loved. For many years I work with students who face homelessness and live in shelters. I've grown so close to these students and want to see them grow and learn just as much as their own parents.
Help me supply these students with basic supplies like paper and pencils to help them feel confident and eager to learn.
Having these materials in my classroom can greatly give them the positive boost they need to have a successful school year. There is no shame or embarrassment. Pencils, colored pencils, crayons, and paper will be there waiting for them when they need it!
Thank you for helping these children have a chance!
