This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a second grade teacher and am honored to be looping up from first with the same class. My students are my superheroes. Although many live in low-income homes and often have trouble gathering supplies for school, they love to learn. They look forward to each school day and are extremely motivated. These students motivate me and I just want them to get the best.
Our school is a Title I urban school in NYC.
Over 80% of the students in our school receive free or reduced rate lunches. I love my class and I would love to make any improvements possible to make their school experience memorable. Working in New York, the budget just keeps getting tighter. It is very difficult to obtain many of the supplies and furniture needed to make the classroom run smoothly. My students just love coming to school each day, but I would love to improve the classroom environment.
My Project
My students are in need of flexible seating in our classroom. I have 24 students all with different needs. Many of my students struggle with focus and are not comfortable sitting at desks all day. They enjoy sitting comfortably while they work, stretching out, standing and moving around. I am asking for a set of comfy pillows and a comfy chair. These seats will allow my students the opportunity to get out of their regular chairs and learn in comfort which will help them focus on their school work rather than their discomfort. Comfy pillows and a comfy chair will motivate students and allow all them to reach their highest potential.
