My Students

This year, I will be teaching a diverse set of twenty three second graders in a classroom with many low-income students. Many of these students have limited life experiences and limited resources. I believe every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation.

These students are dedicated young people who need some extra love and care to help them succeed in their educational careers.

I would love to be able to give them new books to practice reading both in school and at home!

My Project

Many of the books in our classroom have been passed down from past teachers, which we are so grateful for! However, since these books have been around for a while, they are old and falling apart.

My students are in need of new books for our "take home" library.

They choose a book of interest each week to take home, read, and have a comprehension conversation with someone of their choice. By having a variety of books geared to each of my students specific reading levels, they will be able to build their fluency and comprehension. We would love to love some new books!
