My Students
First grade is a very fun place to be! My students are creative, curious, silly, thoughtful, hardworking learners. We like learn through hands-on, interactive and engaging projects that challenge us to think outside the box, while also trying to integrate technology into our everyday routine to prepare to be 21st Century learners.
Not everyone learns the same and being able to provided different materials and tasks that will reach every students learning style will allow them to reach their full potential.
My Project
The Kindergarten and First grade teams at our school are working toward making a level literacy library that contains multiple copies of books. The books in this library will be read with students in guided reading groups. After the book is introduced and read by the students, the book goes home with the student to practice. It is then brought back to school and placed in their book box for a little over a week. By having the book in their book box, students are able to re-read the book and practice fluency and deepen their comprehension.
We are currently lacking enough lower leveled books to keep our readers going, causing us to put them at a new level before they are ready.
By getting more fiction and non-fiction level A books, students will be able to continue their reading skills and stay engaged at a level that is just right for them!
