This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in the South Bronx, teaching grade 6 ELA, at a middle school where 99% of the students qualify for free lunch. They attend school regularly and exhibit a willingness to learn despite their circumstances.

My students live and attend school in the poorest congressional district in the United States.

They appreciate all the help that they can get. It is difficult for them to bring classroom supplies, let alone help for the extra things we need in class. They are thankful for all that they receive and show their appreciation in words and their work.

My Project

Do you remember your first piece of printed published work? My students need ink in order to publish their typed writing. Our printer needs ink in order for them to do so.

Getting copies back in a timely manner in our school is almost impossible.

It is by no means the fault of our school, but sometimes people put in huge requests and it is impossible to get back my own copies for days. My students need ink for our copy machine so that that can publish their typed word document and PowerPoint work. It is difficult for them to bring classroom supplies, let alone help for the extra things we need in class. We complete tons of projects using Microsoft Office software and PowerPoint that require printing, so funding this project will be a huge help!
