My Project
I love teaching 1st graders! They are curious and full of joy. It’s amazing to see them absorb every word of a good book as I read on the rocking chair, grandma-style. Books stir the imagination of my learners. It’s so fun to watch as their understanding of the world grows with a turn of a page!
Besides read-aloud time, I believe it’s important for students to have independent reading time.
I encourage them to spread out, pick a cozy spot in the classroom, and dig into the treasures of a book.
The more books they have access to, the more likely they are to find something that interests them. The more they are interested in reading about a topic or character, the more likely they will be to find a love of reading, which can benefit them for their whole lives!
