This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is a busy day. The room is always bustling, with lots of students who are ready to learn. Unfortunately, it is also a struggle to provide some of the supplies necessary for learning, such as paper, markers and tissues.

I work at a low income, Title I school at which most of our students qualify for free lunch.

Many of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school. Many of my students are college-bound, highly motivated, hard working and dream of success.

My Project

These materials may seem insignificant, but make such a difference. Paper will allow me to make copies to help students master the Common Core standards, which our textbooks are not aligned to; it is also needed for student projects and to print their essays. Cleaning wipes will keep the tables clean, and Purell gel keeps their hands clean, which will keep students healthier, and in school rather than at home sick. White board markers and cleaner will help me teach the class, and are an every day item that we never have enough of. Students use them to write on the board when brainstorming or sharing information. We also never have enough tissues, and students waste valuable class time walking to the restroom for tissue. Students also use tissues during mandatory breakfast in the classroom. The sharpener will allow my students to sharpen their pencils so they can complete their work. Small things like this all contribute to student success.

Basic classroom supplies are hard to come by at my school and will truly help my students to succeed. These supplies will truly help improve student morale and will, in turn, lead to greater achievement. We really appreciate your support of public education!
