My Project
This is my reaching for the stars project and it’s a big one, yoga mats for all!
I incorporate brain breaks, movement, and social emotional instruction in my class daily and yoga has become a big part of our self care routine.
Through stretching and breathing we are able to center our minds and bodies. We are able to practice self control, which helps us manage our big emotions and make good choices. I have found that it is not just a fun activity, we need it. So many of my students have shared with me that they feel like they cannot control their actions sometimes, or feel like they can’t calm down when they get upset. It is so sad to see them experience these hopeless feelings. I have learned that focused breathing and body movements really helps my kiddos (and me too) be able to reset. Quite often students will tell me that they feel good after we stretch, or make the request to do it again, so I know it has a positive affect on us all. School is a whole body experience and yoga helps support that. Thank you for helping me provide this for my sweet kiddos.
