This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember all the fun you had in gym? Due to budget cuts, we are currently without a gym teacher. The classroom teachers have taken on the responsibility of making sure the kids get exercise and have fun in gym. A lack of gym equipment is making this an impossibility!
Our school is a Kindergarten-Fifth Grade urban school in NYC.
The kindergarten in situated in an annex separate from the main building. We are currently having our foundation replaced so we must share a playground with the main building. Unfortunately there is not enough gym equipment for all!
My Project
I am requesting cones, balls,and jump ropes so that the kindergarten students will have fun and be able to learn some new games. I am also asking for a pushcart to be able to keep all materials in. These materials will be available to all the kindergartners (approx. 160) to use during their gym time. The cart will help keep everything neat and organized!
Being cooped up in a classroom all day is no fun when you are five or six!
It's of vital importance that students get time to run around and enjoy the warmer weather and get the exercise that they are lacking!
