My Project
My goal for this project is to provide calm down kits for students to use when they are feeling sad or upset in order for them to return to the classroom ready to learn. Additionally, the materials in my project will also be used to teach emotional regulation and social skills. As a school psychologist, I am always tailoring to individual student needs and the materials I listed will help to support students with specific accomodations. I strive to make my office a safe place to be and with your help I believe I can reach that goal!
For students who are fidgety and need an appropriate outlet, I am asking for Chair Bands that fit around chairs for them to bounce their leg on.
These may be given to teachers for students to use as a less distracting tool for students to use in their learning enviornment.
Additionally, I am putting together calming kits to have in classrooms. The Calm Strips in my project will be included for students to use as they are textured and include breathing exercises they may use. Fidget toys will also be included in the calm kits.
In my individual or group counseling sessions, I teach a variety of skills such as emotional regulation and social skills. Various items, such as the conversation cards and feelings flipbook will help me to provide services to students in need of such skills.
The basic supplies, like laminating pouches, glue, and bins will be used for activities I will have my students engage in, as well as for visuals that may be used in the classroom (ex. break cards, PEC boards, etc).
