My Students
Do you remember what it was like to do hands on science activities? My favorite school experiences were tied to independent discoveries made on my own as a student.
My first grade students are very bright children with endless curiosity.
They need additional opportunities for learning outside of teacher directed instruction. I like to think of my students as future scientists, with the potential to change the world.
My Project
The water cycle science center will serve as an extension of our current science unit, Weather and Air. The simple machines science center, ties into physical science, which is touched upon in our upcoming literature unit Machines in Our Gardens. The additional resources will serve the students well in our classroom.
This project is important to my first grade students to instill a love of science, including forming a hypothesis, while researching, observing, and recording their varied experiences beyond the book.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
