My students need live frog eggs, a 20-gallon tank for hatching the eggs, a digital camera with video recording capabilities, and a memory card for the camera.

My Students
There is nothing more exciting to young scientists than watching frogs develop from eggs! Except maybe sharing the experience with others. What a great way for young scientists to learn first hand about animal life cycles and keep the arts alive as they document the scientific journey.
My students are young and inquisitive, and benefit from hands-on experiences.
In our Title 1 public school in Brooklyn we have students at all academic levels, English Language Learners, gifted and talented students, and children with special needs. All of them however, are eager to learn and would love to enhance their science content knowledge with technology by becoming real live "Science Reporters.
My Project
We would like to record, edit and produce our first very own documentary on the life cycle of the frog. This would be a wonderful opportunity for students to proceed through the steps of scientific inquiry, meet the reading, writing, speaking and listening Content Core Learning Standards, and be super creative. We will then use the classroom computers to create a documentary with real live student reporters to share with the school community.
Despite living in a community with relatively easy access to multiple ecosystems, we are not always able to observe a specific species up close.
Donations to our project will enable my students to have a real-world, hands-on, up close and personal learning experience that will not only engage them but teach them new content as well.
