Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My team is made up of diligent, inspiring, and creative fourth graders with big hearts and analytical minds. They attend school every day with purpose and a desire to learn something new, to discuss what they think, and take pride in their efforts. My students learn in a bilingual community in Los Angeles, CA with a high level of family support. They attend our school with growing technology opportunities that enhance their approach, application, and articulation of their knowledge and their new learning. We balance this with many opportunities to develop creativity and physical fitness through sports. We support the development of persistence, teamwork, and determination.
My Project
We have been challenged with limited physical activity at home due to the pandemic.
Our students need to keep their bodies and minds active and healthy in order to thrive.
We would love to be able to provide a simple, yet powerful tool to help develop fitness after a year of a much sedentary lifestyle. Jump ropes can be one of many tools that can engage students in fun, heart-healthy, and active activities that will not require time on screen.
Jumping rope has been shown to support the development of the left and right hemispheres of the brain and enhance spacial awareness, improve reading skills, increase memory and makes one more mentally alert. I have requested a class set of jump ropes. My students will be able to build coordination and endurance at their own pace and work towards achievable goals. Jump ropes can do this.
