This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade students are one of a kind. Each one enters my room coming from many different backgrounds and ethnicities which adds to my melting pot of a classroom. These are the kids that if you look them in their eyes, you have no idea what they just came from or had to experience before they reached my classroom door. Yet, despite the challenges they are up against, they show up every day, with a smile across their face and eager, ready and willing to learn! They ask questions, they challenge theories, and they want answers! They are creative thinkers who, when given the opportunity, will take the ball and run with it. My second graders are the CEOs, entrepreneurs, inventors, and scientists of the future!
My Project
These audio books and device will help keep my English language learners engaged and focused during reading time. These students have had their academics impacted severely due to remote learning and hard conditions during this global pandemic. It has been a challenge to keep their attention and keep them engaged while they adjust back to a classroom setting. These materials will spark their interest and keep their attention while they practice listening and reading along with these classic well known read aloud. Since these books are written and recorded in their native language, it will be easy for these learners to understand and relate to. It is so important to have resources that make them feel they comfortable and this is where they begin their educational journey !
