My Students
Was learning about math only through numbers hard for you to understand? Research has shown introducing math through literature is a great way to enhance not only students' vocabulary, but their understanding of various math concepts. Reading about math helps reach all learners.
My students attend a high poverty school where testing scores in both Reading and Math are below average.
There are various ways of increasing student scores, but many are mundane and lack motivation for students. Reading MathStart books helps involve students in their own learning.
My Project
The MathStart series of books is a great way to introduce and expand math concepts to children. Children love to be read to, and these books deliver with fun stories, vivid pictures, and included activities to teach about math while also being entertaining. Children remember stories, and these stories helps them connect to real life events while learning about the math they need to know. In short, these books help teachers teach and students learn!
This project is one I am passionate about.
I love to read, and I want my students to learn to love all kinds of reading. I believe these books enhance our curriculum in countless ways.
