it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is a one-to-one school. Each student receives a Chromebook to use for the duration of their time at our school. These devices have opened up new possibilities for our students. Many of our students have never had access to a computing device until now and are so excited to have the opportunity to use these devices in their education.
The students in our coding program take full advantage of their devices learning not just block coding, but also how to code in several coding languages.
Unfortunately, we are only able to provide the Chromebooks to our students, not any peripherals that may enhance their experience. While the devices do have touchpads and built-in speakers, some of the programs we use are easier with a mouse and earbuds. For example, block coding, which is how we start the class before moving on to Java and other coding languages, can be very difficult as it requires moving code block with a touchpad; not an easy task. Your donation would provide a mouse for each student to borrow along with earbuds to help them add music to their programs. Currently, students without earbuds have to work with the sound on a low volume which is difficult for them to hear without pressing their ears to the speaker.
