My Project
My students LOVE TO MOVE. They soak up ANY opportunity to work on their jumping, rolling, and balancing skills! They are future gymnasts, ninjas, and parkour athletes in the making!
This project includes pieces of equipment that will allow them the opportunity to EXPLORE these movements in a safe environment in my gym!
They will build their confidence and self-esteem by having the proper equipment to help them develop these movements and help to strengthen their love for being ACTIVE!
Just imagine being in the gym during one of my tumbling lessons where the objective is being able to "travel with balance using a variety of locomotor skills in dynamic environments" or being able to "transfer weight from one body part to another in self-space" which we would be able to perform using the balance beam or stepping stones funded in this project. The incline and octagon mats in this project would allow students to perform the objective "combines actions and traveling with movement concepts to create movement sequences" with adequate equipment and support to develop these skills safely in the gym.
The rolling magnetic whiteboard in this project would allow me to display student objectives related to this unit, such as being able to "identify physical activities that contribute to fitness". I'd like to create a magnetic system that would allow students to be able to self-assess their fitness knowledge. My school is unique in the fact that my gym is also the cafeteria and auditorium for my building, so I need to be able to clear the space when needed, so a rolling whiteboard would allow ease in this!
I'm lucky to work with EVERY SINGLE student in our school, so this project will have a positive impact on our WHOLE building!
