Children of today are fighting high obesity rates. In order to improve our children's health, we need to get them excited about exercise and nutrition! My students live in a high poverty area where school budgets have been cut drastically, which means that I have over-sized Physical Education classes.
My students are rambunctious preteens in an urban, poverty-stricken area of New York City.
They need physical activity not only for their overall health but to alleviate their high energy levels. With the proper equipment, we can help motivate them to become lifelong learners of health and fitness.
My Project
The beautiful weather is about to begin and I would like to purchase for my students some new equipment to play with outdoor for recess. I feel that if students are engaged in activity, the will be able to focus better after lunch and during the rest of the school day. They will want to play more and hopefully become lifelong lovers of movement. As a result maybe the obesity rates will lower.

With the proper equipment, they can be motivated to play. Students need motivation. These new toys (equipment) are a huge attraction for kids to play.
