My Students
Maybe you weren't the strongest reader in your classroom. Maybe you didn't like to read out loud in class. These LeapFrog Tag Readers will help my students build confidence in themselves when learning the basic skills for reading. They will feel like readers, making them feel good about themselves.
My class is a cross-categorical special education class in a public school.
I serve kindergarten age students. This is a full-day program. My students have a variety of disabilities, including autism, cognitive disability, speech delay, other health impairment, emotional disability and developmental delay. My students live in a high poverty area, so their opportunities are limited. My students are inquisitive and excited about learning. Providing them with as many new experiences as possible is a high priority. Keeping the learning environment fun and inviting for the children is a key to their continued success and learning.
My Project
Instilling a love of reading is key to continued success in school. Many of my students don't have age appropriate reading materials in their homes. Many don't visit the local library. Having the LeapFrog Tag Readers will not only be fun, but they will provide an opportunity for the children to develop a love of hearing stories, build phonological skills and develop concepts of print. The children can use these on their own, so it will help develop independence and curiosity.
Instilling the love of reading is one of the main keys to success in school.
I want every child in my room to feel confident when they put a book in their hands. I want each child to be able to share their love of reading with a friend or family member. Thank you for helping my students achieve their full potential!
