My Students

The Junior Upcoming Medical Professionals (J.U.M.P.) students need your help! My students are part of a brand-new elective at my school to encourage students to explore and prepare for a career in the health sciences. Until this year, the program was run as an after-school student organization, and I am so excited to have an entire year with these students for us to meet every single day during the school day! Our middle school division is called J.U.M.P. Junior Upcoming Medical Professionals), and we are part of the national organization called H.O.S.A. (Healthcare Occupations Students of America).

Through this class, I hope to empower these future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.

My Project

Throughout the year, students participate in projects where they spread awareness of healthcare topics. Every Monday, student teams spend the class period researching a healthcare topic of their choice and creating posters to display around campus. Every Wednesday, students spread awareness of pediatric cancer and raise money to donate to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation as part of HOSA’s (Health Occupations Students of America) national service project. And every Thursday, students are researching devices and techniques that have brought innovation to healthcare. They will create a display board of their findings to present to the class.

To create these posters for these projects, we use a LOT of construction paper to bring life and color to the displays and we need a way to keep the paper organized, instead of a huge pile on a table.

This heavy-duty Childcraft Construction Paper Holder will allow me to sort the paper by color and keep better stock of what colors we are running low on.

By participating in these projects described above, students are able to creativity demonstrate what they are learning about healthcare and possible future careers for themselves.
