My Students
22 smiling and eager first grade students is what I get the honor of seeing each morning! I am the proud teacher of a group of enthusiastic, curious, and caring first graders in a culturally diverse public school in San Francisco.
The students in my class are not just classmates for a year but become family for life.
The first graders in my class have a genuine love for each other, both in the classroom and out on the school yard.
My Project
What is a six year old's favorite time of the day in school? RECESS of course! Recess is a great time to relax, laugh, and play with your friends. Playing kickball, four square, and jumping rope are images we imagine when the word "recess" comes to mind.
However, recess is not one of the favorite times of the day for my students.
With the lack of playground equipment, students walk aimlessly around or fight over the few balls that roll across the yard. Let's change this and make recess joyful again!
My students would LOVE to have a variety of playground equipment to be shared cooperatively at recess time. With more playground equipment, there will be less problems on the yard and more time to do what kids should do at recess- PLAY AND HAVE FUN!
