Jump and Ride to Self Regulation

Help me give my students a way use jumping and pedaling as way to regulate big emotions. Exercise increases dopamine helps regulate moods and decreases stress.

My Project

Almost half of my students struggle with being able to manage big emotions at school. Whether it's because they are still practicing or because they have been exposed to trauma, that inhibits their brain from staying calm. When they are dysregulated, they struggle to learn and interact with peers and adults appropriately.

I want to set up a space where students can go and learn how to regulate their emotions through physical movement and sensory processing.

The trampoline and under table pedal machine will help them get moving and increase dopamine. Additional activities and lessons will help them identify how to regulate and refocus so that they can better access learning at school.

Students with autism will benefit from lessons on executive functioning to learn how to be more flexible with their thinking and manage challenges that come up during the day. The curriculum resources will help me plan lessons that target specific social and executive functioning skills that students need to help them be more successful in the general education classroom.
