Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. But at VCMS, we look and we judge.
Some of these Thunderhawks are reluctant readers, not because they don't love to read--of course they do; reading satisfies our innate curiosity--but because they have been conditioned to have the attention span of goldfish.
As a result, the cover of a book must draw them in; otherwise, there is no reason for them to pick up a book. Bookshelves that can display books outwardly and neatly are imperative to foster literacy and grow lifelong readers.
You just got a book in the hands of a kid who forgot how much they love to read. I thank you on their behalf and the future of our world.
