This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third-graders face challenges: English language learners, recent immigration to U.S. or children of immigrant parents, English not spoken at home, come from high-poverty, neighborhood gang presence. Any one of these challenges is enough to discourage anyone. Does this stop them? No! My 3rd graders are big dreamers.
In my room you will find one future soldier, two future police officers, four future doctors, seven future veterinarians and twelve future 3rd grade teachers.
My third-graders are going to change the world.
My Project
A book display will help me to beautifully advertise my classroom library books in a way that catches the eye of my students. It just takes that one book to really change a kid's life. That one book that dares a kid to start dreaming up wild imaginings. That one book that shows them that "YES! Anything is possible!" That one book that introduces them to their new best friend.
I want this book display to be able to attract and lure my most reluctant readers to peek into the book that might change their life.
This book display can give my books a voice of their own. I can already hear my books talking. "Psst...hey you...yes you! Come over here and look at my cover...I dare you to open me up. I dare you to only read one page..."
