Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am blessed with 18 first grade students in my classroom who are eager to learn and explore the world around them. However, my students come from many different backgrounds, which sometimes makes it difficult for students to be exposed to grade-level content at home. Students come from homes that are unable to provide basic supplies, not to mention school supplies. They are made up from a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced-price lunches. Some of my students may even experience being homeless during the school year. Homelessness is an experience that individual people have, rather than a label. It is my goal as their teacher to provide them with basic necessities.
68% of our students receive free or reduced-price meals.
My students are very grateful for your support!
My Project
I am requesting financial literacy academic supports from IKEA and an innovative website called Teachers Pay Teachers to support my students’ financial literacy skills.
These materials will help focus on the academic supports my students need to be successful!
The materials requested from IKEA will allow students to be more organized, which will promote independence within the classroom. Through this storage system, it will also allow students to engage in financial literacy opportunities for academic supports in a quick manner because the centers will be organized in a centralized location in the classroom. Students will be able to quickly find a center bin and strengthen their skills in the classroom. The resources I am seeking through Teachers Pay Teachers will help build financial literacy skills for my students. My students face the challenge of having significant gaps in their learning due to not being exposed to enough hands-on learning opportunities. These centers will help address the challenge my students face by providing them with academic supports for the significant gaps in learning. These files will also give them hands-on learning experiences through centers, which will help enrich their lives and deepen their understanding. My students will be engaged and learning so much with these financial literacy resources!
