Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third graders are a bilingual group that is always ready to learn. They are curious, resilient, and hardworking kids that love learning new things, sometimes in the classroom and sometimes in the virtual world.
My students are excited about school and ready to grow as bilingual citizens of the world.
They are a highly motivated group of kids, mostly from immigrant families that are passionate and curious about the world around them.
My Project
Our students have just returned to in-school learning after being online for many months! With their return, we are working on their mental health and social interaction as much as possible!
Students have been stuck on screens for too long.
My hope is to give them a screen break by providing old-fashioned board games. Board games can be used in so many ways! There are learning games, math games, science games, etc. Students are used to staying on a screen and working all by themselves. By promoting board games, students will get to take a break from screens and learn to interact with their peers once again.
With these board games, students will learn to be good partners, follow rules, learn how to win and lose, make friends and have patience. This will support their social and emotional growth by supporting all these learning areas! Making friends is key to their emotional and social growth.
