Learning about the oceans in a land-locked state? I teach in a very small, rural high school in Kansas...how much further away from the ocean can you get?
The students would like to participate in the Ocean Science Bowl Competition, but we need study materials. This competition encompasses many areas of science and gives the students an opportunity to learn about not only an ecosystem very few of them have experienced, but also allows them to get out of our tiny community and visit and meet other students from other states.
Most of the students who participate in this competition are from large schools with an oceanography course. Our school consists of only 100 students and one science teacher. In order to compete against this level of academia we need resources to study and prepare for the competition. This includes dissection specimens, videos, and books.
By supplying the requested materials, you will make it possible for the students to examine marine life. Please help bring the ocean to Kansas!
More than half of students from low‑income households
