My Students

Our students are enthusiastic, creative and joyful Third Graders. They read widely and voraciously and love a variety of genres. After having a year of their schooling interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, they are excited to be back in the classroom.

My Project

Students need to be reading every day, we know this from research and personal experience. If a student learns to love to read in Third Grade then they are on the path to being life-long readers.

A well-organized and accessible classroom library is essential to establishing this love of reading.

If students can easily browse and self-select books they are much more likely to discover texts that interest them.

By sorting books by genre and interests, rather than by 'levels' we will ensure that students feel no pressure around their reading. Like all of us, our students best read when they are interested by the subject. We will use the book bins to create a well organized and accessible library for all students. The personal book bins will be used for students to store their selected books for the duration they are reading it.
