Joy and Sense of Belonging: Polynesian Dance Costumes + Snacks

Help me give my students the joy of self-expression, belonging, and cultural understanding through Polynesian dance!

My Project

This year, our school aimed to increase students' sense of belonging by offering after school clubs. I am leading the Polynesian Dance Club, which students are loving! Performing arts is only just starting to make a comeback at our school after the COVID-19 pandemic, and we can already see students' confidence and joy increasing as they have more opportunities to creatively express themselves through music and dance. It has also been so rewarding to see students learn more about Hawaiian culture and language through our work in this club, as well as taking pride and feeling an increased sense of belonging in their school and community

We will be performing at multiple events this year, both on- and off-campus, and students need costumes.

That's what all the fabric, elastic, thread, clothing items, and necklaces are for. These can be reused by students in future years well. I want students to look their best so they can perform confidently and take pride in all the work they've put into their dances!

I have also included snacks in this project, because, well, dancing works up an appetite! These snacks are for all my students in all my clubs and classes, because if students are hungry then they can't focus. Food also brings people joy, and that is what this project is all about! We thank you so much for your support!
