This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students do not have access to diverse and relatable books and a bookshelf in the classroom. By giving kids an option to pick from different books, it can motivate them to want to read more.
My goal for this project is to show students that reading can be fun and finding a book that matches you makes the journey that much more amazing!
My students come from different reading levels and diverse backgrounds. Regardless of their backgrounds, they all deserve to have access to books that are relatable. I plan on using these books to expose students to different ways of reading and diverse topics. I am challenging my students to read as many pages as they can. They are excited to challenge me to read books they recommend. My kids deserve the opportunity to engage with the written word outside of purely academic work. Help me show them the joy and magic of reading!
