Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students this year are thoughtful adolescents at the only public two-way bilingual high school in New England. They work with me every day to practice reading strategies, develop their writing, and increase their self image as citizen scholars.
No matter their native language, all my students are working towards Spanish-English bilingualism.
It's an honor to support them on that journey.
Every year, one of my students' favorite parts of our class has been keeping weekly journals to reflect on the big questions of life. This year, I'd like to give them something that feels more special than the basic composition notebooks I usually get for them.
My Project
My students have always found a lot of meaning in their journals. This year, journalling is more important than ever as we all live through these strange and trying times. These notebooks are higher quality than the basic composition notebooks I have bought for students in the past, and I think the improved quality is worth it because it shows the students that I take them seriously.
I can't wait to stuff these journals into the goodie bags my school is preparing for our students!
And I can't wait to see what they will write in them!
