My Students
Remember the first word or first sentence you wrote in school? In kindergarten our children are writing every day.
My students are happy and friendly five or six year old children at an elementary school in central Florida.
We are a Title 1 school which means a lot of our children qualify for free or reduced lunches in the federal food program. All of our students receive free breakfast. 86% of our students are getting free or reduced lunch.
My Project
My students need journals. They need journals that do not have lines for beginning of the year journals. After they get more practice with journal writing, they need a journal with a place to draw a picture and lines for writing. We write in our journal every day. Sometimes they are responding to a part of a story I have read in class or a question about current events. At least once a week they have "authors choice" where they can write about anything they would like.
My students will have the journals they need to learn how to write.
They will be able to learn about forming letters, making sentences, and expressing their ideas. There is no formal writing curriculum for my children, so journals are very important in my classroom.
