Help me give my students binders, scrapbook papers, and sheet protectors so the children can create journals to write about their lives and current events.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Volk's classroom raised $156
This project is fully funded
My Project
Having the opportunity for parents and families to engage in their child’s life experiences enhances a child's appreciation of writing and creates excitement. What if children were able to write about the current events and how it shapes their lives? My students will have the opportunity to create writing journals in which parents and families will become engaged in various discussions on the child’s writing and are able to showcase their experiences during current events.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and economic situations.
Since my classroom has a great range of reading levels and interests, all students would enjoy an interesting and creative opportunity to maintain and develop that joy of writing within the classroom through the use of writing journals and engaging their families with their writing.
My Project
Creating journals will help my students capture special moments in their lives shown through personal narratives and memoirs during our current state of events. These special moments allow children, especially my English Language Learners, to share their lives and experiences with their parents and families. The journals will highlight various writing as it assists the students in sharing their thoughts and feelings.
This project and the incorporation of the Writer's Workshop can have a lasting, motivational impact on students to help make connections between family engagement and writing.
"Journaling Our Current Events" will help initiate a flame in my students and document their lives as they share their writing with their parents and families.
More than half of students from low‑income households
