My Project
My students love Science, especially when its hands on. They love conducting experiments and completing STEM design challenges. Using Science Notebooks allows students to practice literacy and writing skills during Science lessons. Working literacy and writing skills into a subject that students already love is like slipping spinach into a fruit smoothie! Like spinach, students typically don't enjoy writing all that much, but when they are so engaged in the science activities, they are eager to think through and record questions, predictions, and all they have discovered throughout the lessons and activities.
Science notebooks are a great place for students to jot down questions, predictions, conclusions, and reflections in a place they can continually reference to build on their learning and better understand big ideas.
Science notebooks also allow teacher to keep track of each individual student's learning to ensure they are on track or to know where a student may need additional support.
