Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences! I believe that a child's socioeconomic status should not limit their experiences.
My co-teach class is comprised of 34 amazing students!
Most students at our school speak English as a second language and 95% of them have free or reduced lunch. A lot of our students are first generation Americans. I also have students with special needs in my class. These students need a lot of additional support to meet their needs.
My Project
I am asking for help with buying tablets for my students! Students will be able to do research projects for all subjects, listen to and/or read books, practice math with educational apps, and much more!
The addition of technology would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening, speaking and use of technology.
Students who are confident in their listening, speaking and technological abilities will be ready to face their challenges with all subject areas in school.
Children in this generation need technology to increase engagement and to push them to their full potential. Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically as so other schools within our community to meet their needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
