My Students

Creating great art takes great tools. One never knows when the muse might strike and young artists need to have access to quality tools at their fingertips. As I continue to build our art program, it is clear that a few basic tools will help eliminate some roadblocks for our artists.

The K-12 students who will benefit from these resources are in an alternative school setting.

Providing smaller classes is just one of many ways we strive to help students achieve academic success. The down side of a smaller setting is, of course, a smaller building and a smaller budget. Students and staff work together in finding creative solutions to space and financial limitations.

My Project

Do you remember the feeling of getting new school supplies? Do you recall how it felt to look at the perfectly sharpened crayons and the excitement in getting to use those to create for the very first time? Perhaps, like me, you loved those crayons until they were tiny nubs in your fingers because it isn't just about the newness. Well-loved supplies get used. A lot. I have many eager, creative students who sometimes get frustrated by the condition of our supplies. Paint brushes, markers, glazes, pens all have a limited career and ours are ready to move on to retirement! They have been used and loved and would like to move on to the recycling bin so a new batch of supplies can take their place!
