This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school every day excited to learn! They are inquisitive about the world around them. We strive to broaden their horizons and challenge their minds. We face many obstacles in our ICT classroom, from lack of classroom resources to wishing for those extra materials, that would take us to the next level in our educational journey, but we come together as a caring and responsible community, always mindful to respect each other. We celebrate our differences while we learn and grow together.
My Project
Small group instruction has been proven to be more successful than whole class instruction. A small group kidney table in my classroom will allow us to effectively pull guided reading and guided math groups. My co-teacher and I will sit in the center with our selected students comfortably and in a non-threatening environment as we give individualized instruction. Rather than these students feeling different because they need extra help and support, they will feel special and excited to join the setting. In fact, I’m sure the “cafe style” learning center will be a hit in the classroom and we plan to utilize for small groups across the curriculum.
This table would allow us to pull high, middle and low students who need more specific teaching and learning than what they are getting during core whole group instruction.
This kidney table would be a center of focus for the classroom for years of learners to come, not just one year of learners. By donating you are helping students, present and future, become engaged in meaningful lessons that are presented at their individual level with students who are of similar abilities.
