Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have the pleasure of working with students that commute from multiple districts. Our school services a student population that is diverse and all have an Individual Education plan. Working with our students daily provides many opportunities to learn and share. It has been my experience that having basic needs met is essential for my students to be able to focus on their studies as personal needs are met.
As I prepare for this school year, I want to create and maintain a community closet that will supply a variety of items that our students may need and have access to.
In having these donations, our students will have access to items that will assist in maintaining good hygiene daily, healthy snacks periodically that will support them between transitions or on their way home. Overall, stocking these items will support our school community in putting our students basic needs first.
Many of our students have experienced hardships, yet they are champions at pushing forward and seeking help from us as their teachers and mentors. They want to be better.
