Johnny Tremain: Teaching About the American Revolution Through a Novel

My students need a class set of the novel Johnny Tremain in order to complete our study of the American Revolution.

My Students

My kindergarten through eighth grade school currently serves over seven hundred students who reflect the demographics of the surrounding region. Children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted learn side-by-side in the same classroom. We are always striving to design our lessons so that all students are able to access the curriculum and be engaged in every class activity.

We have a beautiful model that allows all types of students to learn in a way that best suits them!

My Project

As of right now, we currently have a class set of Johnny Tremain Novels that are ripped, damaged, missing pages, etc. Learning about the American Revolution is not only a standard in fifth grade, it is inspiring - and Johnny Tremain really allows the students to visualize what life was like back then. We are asking for a full class set of Johnny Tremain books to help us have a deeper understanding of the American Revolution.

Research shows that students learn best when given access to multiple sources on a subject (ex: reading a novel about a social studies topic).

Having novels that are not missing pages will help my students be able to accurately read the novel about Johnny Tremain during the American Revolution.
