This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our makerspace has been slowly acquiring the tools and materials necessary to create a thriving jewelry crafting program. Our goal is to move away from stringing beads and stamping messages on pre-made metal shapes. Instead, we want students to create their own beads, solder metal together, and cut their own metal blanks. With these skills, they can become true artisans-- to not only express social activism through jewelry crafting, but potentially open up career opportunities in this art form. This disc cutter creates metal circles perfect for necklaces and bracelets inscribed with "Social Action" messages.
